Media Relations and Event Management for Unveiling of concept designs for the new Gallery
Client:
The Portrait Gallery of Canada
Challenge:
Delta Media was retained by the Portrait Gallery of Canada to assist with the official unveiling of the new concepts for its new location across from Parliament Hill. Relying on our expertise in media relations and event management, the Portrait Gallery turned to our team to lead the charge in all aspects of the planning and implementation of the event. With the unveiling fast approaching, our team moved quickly to first develop a comprehensive media strategy to guide the event and to maximize media coverage.
Project:
- With an approved media strategy in place, Delta Media worked with the Portrait Gallery and its partners, Library and Archives Canada, Canadian Heritage and Public Works and Government Services Canada, to develop all materials for the event including the invitation, programme, media materials and VIP kits.
- Our team also created and distributed an e-invitation that captured the artistic flare of the Portrait Gallery and used the same design to create the programme.
- We produced bilingual media kits for the event which included a CD with renderings of the architectural structure of the new gallery. The VIP kits included information sheets, architect bios and custom ordered Museum + Design magazines, featuring an interview with the Portait Gallery’s Executive Director.
- During the unveiling, our team handled all logistics, liaised with members of the media and employed Parliamentary protocol to effectively balance the needs of two federal Ministers and their staff.
Results:
Overall, the event was a complete success with well over 1,000 invitations sent out across Canada , and the appearance of two Ministers at the event as well as several important guests. The strategic media pitching complemented by on-site media relations resulted in a vast interest and pick-up from local and national media.
