Parks Canada Agency (January-March 2000)
Client:
Parks Canada Agency (January-March 2000)
Challenge:
To prepare Parks Canada to manage internal and external Communications
in anticipation of the release of a report on their management
of Canada's National Parks
Project:
- Delta Media moved quickly to develop a communication plan and media
relations strategy with range of media material to be distributed
through media relations
- Began by participating in an internal briefing on the report and
on the highly regarded panel of scientists that led the parks assessment
- Conducted an in-depth review of an advance copy of the report
- Prepared a comprehensive situation analysis of the public and political
environments into which the report and the agency's response would be released
- Delta Media quickly translated elements of the report into plain language
and worked with Parks Canada's executive committee and the Office of the
Minister of Canadian Heritage to refine their responses.
Result:
Delta Media succeeded in turning the report's release from criticism
into an opportunity for Parks Canada and the Minister of Canadian
Heritage to move ahead of the issue and to champion the protection
of our national parks.
