Ontario Tourism and Marketing Partnership

Challenge:

  • To facilitate the development of new cultural tourism experiences within Ontario's cities
  • To generate interest in and awareness of Ottawa's newest winter experience known as Winter Solstice
  • To attract mature travel-seekers to the region in order to offer them the opportunity for personal fulfillment and enrichment in the cold of winter
  • To create the opportunity for repeat yet unique cultural heritage experiences in Canada's capital region during the winter season
  • To highlight the various sectors of tourism in a unique and enticing manner To develop a website that would allow consumers to customize their visit to the Ottawa region

Project:

  • Brought together cultural, heritage and tourism partners from around the Ottawa region in order to create and maintain an alliance
  • Developed a wide range of packages that offer a variety of experiences for the mature travel-seeker
  • Organized, planned and coordinated the launch of Winter Solstice at the National Arts Centre
  • Created and managed the development of the official Winter Solstice website
  • Generated a wide variety of media contacts including those in Upper New York and Quebec
  • Positioned Winter Solstice as the ideal product for those looking to find something new and enriching

Result:

  • Increased awareness of Ottawa the region as the destination of choice for tourists in the winter months Increased awareness of the Winter Solstice product and its ability to meet a wide variety of consumer demands
  • Heightened understanding of the Ottawa region as the perfect place for short, getaway experiences
  • Attracted a wide variety of media coverage despite a narrow news window Increased acknowledgement of Ottawa's unique cultural product offering Increased visitation to Ottawa during the winter
