Challenge:
To promote the Canada Loves New York campaign in local and national
media, and to encourage Canadians to travel to New York and show
their support to Americans following the September 11th terrorist
attacks.
Project:
- Delta Media Chairman and CEO, Tim Kane, co-chaired Ottawa's organizing
committee
- Delta Media organized media events and photo opportunities with
national public figures, including the Prime Minister
- Delta Media conducted a national media relations campaign and wrote all related media materials
- Delta Media lead planning meetings of the Ottawa committee of the
Canada Loves New York campaign
- Delta Media acted as headquarters of the Ottawa committee, providing
free office space, office supplies and phone lines
- Delta Media implemented an information service to respond to hundreds
of public enquiries
Result:
- The Canada Loves New York campaign received wide ranging media
coverage leading up to the Nov. 30th to Dec. 2nd weekend, with
well-known media personalities throwing their support behind the
cause and encouraging Canadians to participate
- An estimated 20,000 Canadians showed their support to Americans
on December 1, 2001, during a special event at New York's historic
Roseland Ballroom
