Delta Media's President Returns from a Successful Stint as Conference Director for International Symposium

Delta Media’s President, Sheena Pennie, recently earned the praise and acclamation of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) for her work as Conference Director for the 29th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners. Held in Montreal between September 25th and 28th, 2007, Privacy Horizons: Terra Incognita, was attended by 650 delegates from 54 countries. Working directly under Canada’s Privacy Commissioner, Ms. Jennifer Stoddart, Sheena’s main responsibility during her six-month assignment was to make certain that the four day conference went off without a hitch.

From liaising with the event’s keynote speaker, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Michael Chertoff, to coordinating every aspect of the Soirée at Montreal’s lush Le Chalet du Mont Royal, Sheena successfully guided OPC staff through numerous undertakings to ensure the successful implementation of a conference of this magnitude. Other notable guest speakers included The Honourable Peter Milliken, Speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, Ms. Yim Chan, Global Privacy Executive for IBM and Mr. Peter Fleischer, Google’s Global Privacy Counsel.

Sheena’s work did not go overlooked at the closing plenary when Dr. Michael Geist, Canada’s foremost media authority on data protection and privacy, led his speech by stating that, "It has truly been an exceptional conference, both from a content perspective, in terms of the sheer number of participants and the remarkable organization."
