Delta Media Donates Resources for Military-Themed Fundraiser

Delta Media Chairman and CEO Tim Kane co-chaired The Second Annual Tour of Duty Gala, in support of the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. The special evening saluted Canadian Forces, past and present, on the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross, the highest possible recognition for valour in the presence of the enemy that can be awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces. This year’s special guests were Canada’s Chief of the Defence Staff, General Rick Hillier and Master Corporal Paul Franklin, 1 Field Ambulance. Master Corporal Franklin was seriously injured in a suicide bombing and lost both his legs in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2006. Over 300 guests attended the dinner and auction evening which raised more than $75 000 toward the construction of the Guest House, a 12-bedroom respite home for people suffering from Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Delta Media has already confirmed its involvement with next year’s event. The Third Annual Tour of Duty Gala, themed “Keep the Home Fires Burning”, will pay tribute to families of Canadian soldiers.
